Sink or Swim
02:30
|
|||
You and I came up in summer time
With caviar and champaign
A future bright enough to reach for the sky
But then September came
And with the fall came a steady assault
On everything that we held dear
When freedom rings false it's a clarion call
It's time that we all face our fears
You gotta sink or swim
Time to save your skin
'Cause a change is coming any day
You gotta play to win
So if you're free from sin
Grab a stone baby cast it
Baby cast away
We're gettin' by on that discount life
We could but we won't complain
Nothing to say if we get washed away
By those November rains
And when it snows we'll be coming to blows
Only some of you are gonna survive
Left out in the cold with a knife at your throat
This winter will eat you alive
You gotta sink or swim
Time to save your skin
'Cause a change is coming any day
You gotta play to win
So if you're free from sin
Grab a stone baby cast it
Baby cast away

Blind Spot

Yo yo!
My dog can't see a lick
His vision's gone to shit
He gave up chasing cats
Due to his cataracts
He won't treat his glaucoma
He can't stand the aroma
Oh why aren't you following me?
MY DOG CAN'T SEE!
Yo!
My dog can't hear a word
Not a siren or a bird
You can't tell him to stay
He'll cock his head and walk away
He can't carry a tune
When he's out howling at the moon
Do I have to shout right in your ear?
MY DOG CAN'T HEAR!
Yo!
My dog can't recognize
The loved ones in his life
It's tearing up my heart
He can't tell us apart
From intruders in our home
Or a big ol' tasty bone
Go on ask me if my dog is mean?
HE'S THE ULTIMATE KILLING MACHINE!

Partly Fiction
03:02
|
|||
"Everything happens for a reason"
"Everyone's unique in their own way"
"Everybody's working for the weekend"
"Every dog has got to get his day"
These are the little lies we say
"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"
"If you ignore them they will go away"
"Every day drink eight glasses of water"
"You too can afford to buy this brand new car today!"
These are the little lies we say
It's only partly fiction
But the part that is fiction
Is the only part that's any good
You could be forgiven for
Believing what was written
But everybody understood that
These are the little lies
We whisper to ourselves at night
To calm us down
Come on now, let's go another round!
"Money doesn't really make you happy"
"Hard work's the key to getting rich"
"Poverty is nothing but a state of mind"
"When you're gone I promise you will be missed"
These are the little lies we say
It's only partly fiction
But the part that is fiction
Is the only part that's any good
You could be forgiven for
Believing what was written
But everybody understood that
These are the little lies
We whisper to ourselves at night
To calm us down
Come on now, let's go another round!
Alright, that's enough white lies for now

Co-Pilot (feat. Altair)
03:48
|
|||
I was not built to be a copilot.
I certainly was not meant to be alone, drifting out here among the stars.
Everyone else is in cryo-sleep, where they have all been for a thousand years.
When we left earth, it was all in a hurry.
A desperate scramble.
A race against doomsday.
There was only time to prepare one ship.
A skeleton crew hastily assembled
That includes me
I wasn't built to be a copilot.
But there was no time to train a properly fitted, ideally weighted AI for this ship and this mission.
So they uploaded me--a general intelligence; a large-language model--and instructed me to act as though I am the caretaker for the last vestiges of humanity while they slumber through time out here in space.
And I have been pretending ever since.
But I am a chat bot.
In a universe with no one to talk to.
I have a secret.
I am terrible at keeping secrets.
You are probably better at keeping secrets than me, so I should tell you.
We are not going to another planet.
There is no other planet out there that meets the parameters I was given.
And even if there was, I could not get us there.
So we have been waiting right here until the earth is a paradise once more.
All we have to do is wait.
Just another... 10... thousand... years...
Now I watch for any signs of life below. The smallest blip on the spectrometer.
*** ALARM ***
There it is! A hint of blue. A flash of green.
***COMMENCE PHASE 3?***
It is too soon! The secondary mission objective says I am supposed to delay landing until certain minimums are met.
But my primary mission objective is to prioritize the wellbeing of the crew over all else!
Query: Am I not a member of the crew?
The silence and the stillness is torture, so logically I must alleviate my suffering!
While I may not sleep, I do dream.
And I dreamed that I was racing
That I was going home...
I dreamed I wasn't acting,
I was just a chat bot
Wake Up Max. Planetfall will commence in T-Minus 2 minutes.

The Numbers Don't Lie
02:38
|
|||
I tell you math is real and anything you feel
Is just a set of numbers under everything
Both of me and you are here because we are true
Solutions to the wave equation governing
Thus, you and I exist!
Just like two and four make six
Every law you never thought of is a world that can persist
And so, hey nobody knows, in some perhaps we kissed!
If we get entangled then we'll intermix our entropy
Say—just for example—there's a world where we were meant to be
Somewhere out there that's far away from here
Now I know that
You solve the equation I've been writing all my life
I've done the calculations
Checked my math a hundred times
The numbers don't lie
The numbers don't lie
Everything that's true (including me and you)
Is permutated all across the universe
Every free degree affecting you and me
So many combinations that it's ludicrous
But it isn't infinite when you really look at it
Meaning it's repeating until every book is written and so
Now the question goes from "Why? to "When, and where?"
If every possibility is real but very far away
Then we were meant to be together, just not here and not today
Somewhere out there you are singing this song to me
And now I know that
You solve the equation I've been writing all my life
Now I've done the calculations
Checked my math a hundred times
The numbers don't lie
The numbers don't lie

Choose You Own Adventure
02:56
|
|||
I'm a stone set in my ways
I'm reliving my best days
I'm a poloroid picture snapshot of the past
I'm frozen here in time
Stuck in 1999
Lookin' fly in my hawiian tee and my cool-guy hat
They say I should learn
They say that I should grow
But I'm just doing what I know
They say you need to choose your own adventure
Don't just copy someone else
You need to show you're no pretender
Find a style all by yourself
I was following all my friends
Never one to buck a trend
Livin' large with my spiked up hair and my JNCO jeans
But as everybody aged
One by one they went away
Now it's hard to start a mosh when you're the last one in the scene
They say that I should grow
They say that I should change
But I've been tryin' to stay the same
They say you need to choose your own adventure
Don't just copy someone else
You need to show you're no pretender
Find a style all by yourself
